What is preventive care for animals?

The definition of preventive (aka routine) care for cats and dogs is any type of care that can be planned for or scheduled. For example, an annual checkup is considered preventive care because it’s not actually addressing an illness or injury; it’s a routine wellness check that’s planned. There are also countless other procedures that are considered preventive care, like annual vaccines, spaying, neutering, wellness exams, teeth cleanings and more. Another way to think of it is like this: If it’s a vet visit that’s not addressing an unexpected injury or illness, it’s probably not covered by Fetch by The Dodo pet insurance.
