Throughout September 2021, North Shore Animal League America (Animal League America) is hosting a virtual Walk & Wag — a month-long event where you can walk or run to raise lifesaving funds for shelter animals. Anyone can participate nationwide by forming a team with your friends, family and colleagues, signing up as an individual walker or registering to run. Participants who raise a minimum of $250, and share proof of their run using their fitness app of choice), will receive a special Team Animal League running singlet.
Participants can also visit interactive Virtual Vendor Villages, where they can learn more about event sponsors (some of which feature special offers!), participate in friendly competitions and contests, qualify for fundraising rewards and even bid on fun silent auction items for you and for your favorite pup.
Introducing the Fetch health forecast.
Actress, author and rescue advocate, Renée Felice Smith, and her partner, composer, author and rescue advocate, Chris Gabriel, are our Walk & Wag ambassadors (along with their dogs, Velma, Mabel and Alfie). The duo represents Team Hugo, which honors their late pup Hugo, the inspiration behind their children’s book, “Hugo and the Impossible Thing.”
So far this year, the event has raised almost $55,000 for homeless rescue pets. As an added incentive to register, Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health US, one of Animal League America’s partners, agreed to contribute $20 to every person who signs up (up to $10,000).
Competition is a fun part of the event, but the countless animals that the donations will help are the real winners. For more information about the event or to sign up, visit animalleague.org/walkandwag.
