Fetch’s complete coverage includes what Progressive excludes

Progressive may be a big name in insurance, but when it comes to pet insurance, specifically, Fetch covers what Progressive does not. With Fetch, your dog or cat gets the most complete coverage for dental illnesses, online vet visits, physical therapy and a lot more that Progressive doesn’t offer.

Full-mouth dental, telehealth & physical therapy: what Progressive doesn't cover

Progressive doesn’t cover the most common disease in dogs & cats

  • Fetch covers injury and disease in all adult teeth and your pet’s gums. This includes periodontal disease, which is the most common disease in dogs and cats. Plus, you get full coverage for oral tumors, dental trauma and more.

  • Progressive’s dental coverage is limited to injuries from accidents. That means they don’t cover dental illnesses, including periodontal disease, and they don’t include endodontic treatments like root canals.

100% reimbursement on pet meds with Fetch Pet Rx

  • With Fetch, you'll get 100% reimbursement on hundreds of qualifying pet medications when you order through our online pharmacy, Fetch Pet Rx..

  • Progressive doesn’t offer this. Fetch is the only pet insurance provider that pays you back 100% of the cost of your pet’s meds — with $0 copay — when you use Fetch Pet Rx.

Fetch reimburses you 100% for online vet visits with $0 deductible and $0 copay

  • Fetch covers remote telehealth treatment, so you can call, text, email or video chat with a licensed vet to get support. Online vet visits are covered up to $1,000 a year — no copay, no deductible, no additional costs.

  • Progressive doesn’t cover online vet visits at all.

Progressive doesn’t cover pets outside of the U.S.

  • Fetch covers pets in the U.S. and Canada.

  • Progressive does not have coverage outside of the U.S., so if you live in Canada (or are traveling there), your pet will not be covered.

Progressive’s limited dental coverage could cost you thousands in vet bills

Both Fetch and Progressive cover dental, but Fetch is the only pet insurance that covers injury and disease in all adult teeth and your pet’s gums. Progressive only covers your pet’s teeth if they’re injured in an accident, which means you’ll have no coverage at all for periodontal disease, root canals and more. Incomplete dental coverage can cost your pet — and your wallet.

Up to 90% of dogs and cats have periodontal disease, according to Cornell University, and treating it can cost thousands of dollars. Fetch pays back up to 90% for gum disease, but Progressive won’t reimburse you at all for dental disease coverage.

Progressive also doesn’t reimburse you for endodontic treatments. These are procedures like root canals, caps, crowns and fillings. The average cost of a root canal is $3,140. With Fetch, endodontic treatments are included as part of your complete dental coverage.

How pet insurance claims work

A pet insurance claim is the information about your pet’s treatment that you submit to your insurer for review. It includes an itemized invoice, the reason for your pet’s vet visit and the name and contact info of their vet. It’s fast and easy to get your claims reimbursed with Fetch.

  1. 1

    You pay the vet

You pay your pet’s bill in full at the veterinarian’s office during your visit.

  2. 2

Submit a claim to get paid back

Snap a picture of your paid invoice and supporting medical records and submit them in the top-rated Fetch app.

  3. 3

    Get reimbursed — fast

Claims are typically processed in less than 10 days. Once approved and you’ve met your deductible, you'll get paid back up to 90% straight to your bank account via direct deposit.

Pet insurance cost: With Fetch, you’ll save more on meds, dental & telehealth than Progressive

When you get a pet insurance quote with Fetch or Progressive, you’ll be given options to customize the cost. With Fetch, you can choose the deductible, max annual payout and reimbursement rate that’s right for your pet and your budget. Your quoted price with Fetch might look more expensive than what you’d get with Progressive, but Progressive’s coverage exclusions could end up costing you a lot more in future vet bills.

  • Progressive won’t reimburse you for dental illness

Progressive’s accident-only limitations on dental coverage could cost you thousands of dollars if your pet needs treatment for gum disease, extensive dental surgery or other issues. Fetch gives you the most complete coverage for dental injuries and illnesses in every adult tooth.

  • Progressive doesn’t cover telehealth costs

With Fetch, you’re covered up to $1,000/yr. in online vet visits at no extra cost — with no copay and no deductible. Progressive won’t reimburse telehealth costs, so you won’t have coverage if you can’t travel to a vet or need to call the pet poison helpline — which costs $85 per incident.

  • You’ll save much more on your pet’s medications with Fetch

Fetch gives you 100% reimbursement for qualifying pet meds when you use our online pharmacy, Fetch Pet Rx. Progressive doesn’t cover name-brand prescriptions if a generic version is available — even if your vet prescribes it. They also don’t cover vitamins & supplements (Fetch does).
