Fetch’s breed-specific coverage was critical when Teresa’s Cavalier King Charles nearly died of heatstroke
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are more prone to certain issues, like heart disease and hip dysplasia. They’re also more likely to develop heatstroke than some other breeds. “I was concerned because the Cavaliers can have issues with their breathing and their hearts. And I thought, 'I don't want that to ever be a pre-existing condition or something that's breed-based and not be covered.' So, I did a side-by-side, and I just thought [Fetch] was the best. It was the best for the price and what you would actually get. Fetch was the best deal.”
When Sir Lancelot was rushed to the ER for heatstroke, Fetch gave Teresa peace of mind
“My niece's daughter came to visit and she asked me if she could walk the dogs. And I said, ‘Of course, but Lancelot's not great with the heat, so don't go far.’ And she got lost. I found her a couple of blocks away, and he wasn’t even able to move. So I picked him up and literally ran home with him, and when I got him home he just wasn't responding and he was looking worse and worse. And it was really scary because his tongue was blue and flopping out. So I picked him up and he was like a rag doll. I was lucky that we live near an emergency vet.
The doctor said, ‘It doesn't look good. I can tell you that if he gets the best care, the very best care, he has a 50/50 chance.’ And then he said, 'And also it's going to be $12,000 and you need to pay half of it up front.’ I was so happy I had insurance. I didn't have to think about $12,000. It really eased my mind. It would have been so stressful.”

“The facility where I took him was so amazing. I was so lucky that they were so close. If it had been a regular vet, they wouldn't have been able to save him. It was because they had all the equipment. By the time I got in there, they already had them all hooked up — the EKG and his brain. Everything was being monitored. That was a real positive aspect of how far veterinary science has come, but you have to be able to afford it.”
