The most complete pet insurance for IVDD, dental disease, cancer & more

1 in 3 pets needs unexpected vet care each year, according to Forbes. That’s why Fetch covers more.

Full-mouth dental coverage

Fetch covers injury and dental disease in all adult teeth and your pet’s gums. This includes gingivitis, broken teeth, extractions and more. Fetch does not have a sublimit on dental coverage.

What’s a sublimit? Sublimits are specific dollar-amount caps on how much a pet insurance company will pay you back for a particular type of veterinary treatment. These caps are often buried in the fine print, so read carefully before committing.

Coverage for IVDD

What is IVDD? Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) is a condition that occurs in both dogs and cats in which one or more intervertebral discs stick out from their normal position. This puts pressure on the spinal cord, which can potentially cause neurologic symptoms. Dog breeds susceptible to IVDD include Dachshunds, Corgis, Basset Hounds, Beagles, French Bulldogs, Pekingese and Shih-Tzus.

Fetch covers IVDD diagnostics and treatments, including surgery. Reimbursement for hydrotherapy, physical therapy and acupuncture, which are also commonly prescribed by a vet to treat IVDD, come standard with Fetch.

Pet cancer requires frequent vet appointments. Each one comes with a sick-visit exam fee of up to $250 — this is on top of any of the costs for treatments and tests. Fetch covers this fee for you. Fetch also covers every veterinarian in Canada or the U.S., including specialists, so you can help give your pet the best veterinary care for a longer, healthier life.

Pet insurance cost & reimbursement for vet bills

Average monthly cost

Fetch Pet Insurance for dogs is $34/mo. on average, while cats average $21/mo. Your Fetch quote is based on just 3 pieces of information: your pet’s age, breed and where you live. These factors have the highest chance of impacting your vet costs and are used to calculate your recommended monthly price.

Getting paid back

Getting reimbursed is quick and easy with Fetch. Simply snap a pic of your pet’s vet bill and medical records and submit them through the Fetch app or your account. Claims are typically processed in less than 10 days. Once approved, you'll get paid back up to 90% straight to your bank account via direct deposit.

‍What is a pet insurance quote? ‍”Quote” is the monthly cost a pet insurer will charge you to enroll your dog or cat. With Fetch, it’s free to get your quote, and it’s based on a few quick questions about your pet. You can customize your price to better fit your pet and your budget after quoting with Fetch.

What’s not covered: waiting periods & other pet insurance exclusions

Every pet insurance policy comes with areas that are not covered (known as “exclusions” in insurance-speak). Like other pet insurance providers, we don’t cover tail docking, prescription food, pre-existing conditions and grooming.

  • Waiting periods apply

There’s a waiting period of up to 15 days before illness coverage begins. Any illness that occurs during this waiting period will not be covered. There is no waiting period for accident coverage and, if added, Wellness coverage. Fetch does not have a waiting period for pets adopted from participating shelters.

  • You have 90 days to submit claims

Remember to submit your claims within 90 days of your pet’s vet visit. Claims submitted after 90 days won’t be covered.

  • Pre-existing conditions are not covered

In general, no pet insurance covers pre-existing conditions. This can make switching pet insurance tricky, because if you start filing claims with one insurer and then decide to switch to another one, the conditions your pet has already had probably won't be covered by your new insurer. Fetch covers curable pre-existing conditions. To learn more, read about pre-existing conditions.

What is a pre-existing condition? A pre-existing condition is any condition that your pet has (or shows signs of) before you enroll, before your policy’s effective date or during the waiting period of up to 15 days.
