Pet Insurance 101
What is a waiting period?
Only a little while before we can start covering your pet
When signing up for Fetch pet insurance, you may be wondering, “When can I actually start submitting claims?”
What is a waiting period?
A waiting period is the time between when you sign up and when you can start filing claims for your pet’s medical treatments. Fetch has two key waiting periods, we explain them both below.
15-day waiting period
The 15-day injury and illness period begins on the first day of your plan, meaning the day you sign up, and lasts for 15 days. Like all other providers, we can’t cover any illnesses or injuries within this window.
6-month waiting period
The 6-month period is where you can’t file a claim for any hip or knee injuries or conditions, beginning on the day you sign up and lasting for 6 months. However, if your vet says that your pet’s knees are healthy within the first 30 days of your plan, that waiting period could be waived.
Once you’ve completed the waiting periods, you can start filing claims for your pet’s medical care. Whenever you start submitting claims, it’s important to know that in order to get paid back, claims must be submitted within 90 days of the vet visit.
Now that we’ve broken down the waiting periods, we’re so excited to start covering your pet.
The best pet insurance, period.
